As of recent, I have been pondering the estimates or number of people within BiH... as of July 2019, the Croatian Ministry of Interior claimed 384,631 Croatian citizens also had been documented to be residing in BiH. I am curious, what are the people of this forum's estimates for different people groups living within BiH as of or around the present time?

1,3 million Muslims
0,95 Serbs
0,35 Croats

1,5 mio Bosniaks

0.9 mio Serbs

0,3 mio Croats

1.8 mil Bosniaks
0.8 mil Serbs
0.28 mil Croats
0.1 mil Others

Not a chance. Only last year more then 80,000 Muslims left BiH
This year will be record emigration.
Number of births, number of children in school, number of registereted cars etc all show there is no more then 1,3 million Muslims
In few short years will be less then million with catastrophic birth rates and avarege age.
Young betrayed and deserted they country and nation, same like they grandparents, and left for western europe.

This one seems the most probable if we give or take some amount of Bosnian Muslims//Bosniaks, I am curious though of why the Serb net emigration rate is so low in comparison to the other ethnic groups if the Bosnian Serbs live in general poverty within RS in compared to FBiH... I feel I often hear of Serbs leaving RS to urban centers in Serbia or central Europe, but perhaps these are just memorable stories. Can anybody provide some type of reasoning for this in the thread?

This is not a bad estimate though I think there are 1.3-1.5 million Bosnian Muslims within BiH, it is hard to comprehend the general population only being comprised of 2.5 million peoples. In my opinion, 2.5 million would sum up the amount of all three constituent people groups together.

Source for that claim? Number of births, school children? What does support this claim? With number of births around 13.000-13.500, it`s impossible to be around 1,5 Muslims in B&H.

13,000-13,500 including diaspora. Federal statistic berau, witch is under Muslim control, admited they record "part of diaspora" in they numbers.
Also there is always 20% less children in first grade in schools then what was born according to statistics 6-7 years earlier.

I believe that there are a lack of credible sources in regards to population estimates within BiH, this is why I created this thread, I am searching for different people's opinions and active discussion on the topic. Most of that for which will be presented will be mere speculation, however there is nothing wrong with that if such is the intent of the created thread. Regarding the credibility of sources regarding the population estimates, I find that they are either greatly exaggerated (for instance the claim there are 3.5 million people) or (for instance the claim that less than 2.3 million people remain) I find that they are created by pessimists. Also the official statistic for live births in BiH is 25,870 in 2021 but I am more than willing to listen to other takes on the matter especially considering I am relatively new to discussing demographics in this manner. This message is also written with no intent to demean your previous message, I am writing this with the intent to learn that for which could be deemed objectively fathomable.

I appreciate the addition of this message in the thread, I was not aware of this and I will find it quite an important statistic. For one I find it interesting that there are a lack of statistics regarding the permanent population and it kind of is urking when you consider the fact that much of the diaspora is considered that for which is treated like the permanent population in the country due to the lack of validity regarding government statistics.

There is at least 1200 gypsies born every year that are not recorded as gypsies. I suspect most of them are listed as Bosniaks. There are strong indications that some births in Bosniak diaspora are recorded as well. I suspect Serbs play with their numbers a little bit too because they have enough institutional power to do so.

I agree, I have to mention, the Serbs are the main problem regarding the disarray of vital statistics, and in history they always have been. It is often the Bosnian Serbs challenging change in the country or the conduction of the collection of demographic statistics, the protest of the Serbs has not been weightless and as a result we are left to make assumptions.

Most people in this forum are going to use the words "Bosniak" and "Muslim" interchangeably, also please write in English on this thread generally. It is okay to use Croatian to phrase certain things for example "Hercegovina" but please refrain from writing whole comments in our beautiful language unless the thread is intended for it. Bog i Hrvati! (see it is okay to use both, but the general message should be conveyed in English)

I believe that this is improbable because as per 2019: 384,631 Croatian citizens had registered residence in BiH as per the Croatian ministry of interior. Your claim of there being around 280,000 Croats would mean around 104,000 Croats would have had to left the country within the time span of 2019-2022, that being about three years. It would also mean that 2.8m people would be inhabiting BiH in total, I am curious if you can provide insight to your claim of there being under 300,000 Croats.
