A new ten-year Management Plan for Vjetrenica - Popovo polje has been prepared

At its session in Mostar on Thursday, the Government of the Federation of BiH was informed about the activities carried out on the development of the Management Plan for the Protected Landscape Vjetrenica - Popovo polje (2021-2031), and concluded that the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism fulfilled its obligation and monitored its implementation.

With the aim of preserving and rational use of natural resources, the area of ​​the Protected Landscape Vjetrenica - Popovo polje was declared a protected area due to the emphasized landscape value, numerous endangered and rare species and habitats and rich cultural and historical heritage, the FBiH Government Public Relations Office announced.

After the expert explanation and the Draft Law financed at the initiative of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism (FMOIT) from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), which was available to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and thus FMOIT as a focal point for the Convention on Biological Diversity , The Assembly of the Herzegovina-Neretva County is 26.2.2021. passed the Law on the Proclamation of the Protected Landscape Vjetrenica - Popovo polje for the purpose of preservation and rational use of natural resources that are unique.

At the same time, FMOIT financed the preparation of the Nomination file for the proposal of the Vjetrenica cave with Popov polje to be inscribed on the world list of cultural and natural heritage (UNESCO list).

An integral part of the Nomination file is the Management Plan for this landscape.

Given that the existing Management Plan was adopted for the period 2011-2021. and to stand out this year had to react urgently with the aim of making a new one for the period from 2021 to 2031.

At the proposal of FMOIT, the Government of FBiH, at its 266th session, instructed the Environmental Protection Fund to allocate 60,000 marks for the development of this plan.

The management plan has been developed for a period of ten years, with the possibility of amending and / or supplementing after five years, the statement said.
