Hello, I am a student in the USA and I was doing research on the HVO

I was wondering if there are any books/resources/pdfs or anything where I can read about its military history.

I would like to know about its structure, lists of units, and towns/areas it controlled when it first formed. Mainly about Central Bosnia, Northern Bosnia, Southern Bosnia, and Eastern Bosnia.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It would be rude if no one answered you – so assuming you're not a bot - there are so many great books out there that lack English translations, I would suggest to you that you use an AI model to help track them down.

Just a heads-up, though: watch out for author bias. There's a reason I mention this - for example, an American author and an author from Iran or Afghanistan are going to have completely different perspectives on the same war.

I figured author bias would be a big factor especially over a topic like this.

One of the books I have began reading is The Bosnian-Croat war in Central Bosnia by Charles R. Shrader.

Any opinions on that book? It definitely has some croat bais.

If your goal is to study the HVO’s military organization, structure, and operations, I wouldn’t rely on any single source. With respect, Ivica Primorac is the last person I would recommend under a title about “truth”. In my opinion, his credibility is open to question, particularly in light of criticism from some Croatian veterans regarding aspects of his wartime role and later public claims. I would treat that book as one personal account rather than authoritative military history. I’d actually recommend looking at brigade level histories/monographs rather than general war histories.
