Mossad used Bosnian passports to infiltrate Tunisia and kill drone expert

DAMASCUS, SYRIA (8:00 PM) – Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has accused the Israeli secret service Mossad of having used Bosnian passports to infiltrate Tunisia and assassinate top drone technician Mohamed Zawahri in December last year.

According to Hamas senior figure Mohamed Nazzal, an investigation into the killing has found that several Mossad agents were active in Tunisia for at least four months prior to the assassination of Zawahri, pretending to be foreign journalists. Zawahri, a Tunisian citizen, worked for Hamas and was known as an expert in the field of unmanned drone aircraft. Nazzal’s statement, made during a press conference in the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Thursday, furthermore stated that the assassins were able to get into Tunisia using Bosnian passports.

The 49-year old Tunisian was killed by no less than 20 gunshots while at the wheel of his car, in the Tunisian port city of Sfax. Using the guise of journalists in order to lure targets to their demise is a familiar tactic of the Israeli intelligence agencies.

In 2012, Israel officially admitted to having assassinated Abu Jihad, the second-in-command of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), during an all-out attack on the organisation’s headquarters in Tunis, in 1988. The Mossad is also widely believed to be behind the assassination of Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Mahbouh. In this attack as well, forged foreign passports were used by the killers, mainly British, Irish and Australian.
