The BBC has refused to remake the famous World War II sitcom 'Allo 'Allo because bosses were nervous the Nazis in the show would offend viewers.
It comes as the broadcaster gave the green light for other classic programmes to be remade, including comedy series Are You Being Served? and prison sitcom Porridge.
But the BBC were worried that some of the characters in 'Allo 'Allo, such as Gestapo officer Herr Flick, would cause animosity, reports The Sun.
This is despite the Beeb regularly showing repeats of the series - which lasted 10 years from 1982 to 1992.

The popular show, created by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft, was shown on BBC One for nine series and 85 episodes.

It was set in German-occupied France, in the northern town of Nouvion, and focused on cafe owner René Artois, who was played by British actor Gorden Kaye.
A source told the newspaper that they blamed political correctness and said that it was 'so bad' because the show was 'really funny'.

A Muslim train driver who went through two red lights before he crashed had gone without food or drink for almost a day because of Ramadan, rail accident experts claim.
The driver, who worked for Great Western, failed to stop and went through a double red light at London's Paddington Station in June.

He had not eaten anything for 15 hours before he made an emergency stop but his actions couldn't prevent the train from leaving the tracks.
The train then hit a gantry and brought down power lines at 6.12pm - more than five hours after he started his shift at 1.07pm.

Luckily there were no passengers on board during the derailment and the accident led to three days of disruption - causing misery for commuters.

The driver, who has not been named, had his last meal at 2.30am, reports The Sun.

A newly married husband who raped a 12-year-old girl and claimed 'the devil got him' as he confessed to his wife has been jailed for ten years.
Pakistani national Kamran Ahmed, 27, had been in the UK less than six months after marrying a British woman when he had sex with the schoolgirl, pulling off her clothes and telling her 'I have to do this'.

Ahmed had previously told the girl she was pretty, touched her indecently and tried to kiss her before forcibly raping her, prosecutor Tom Storey told Bradford Crown Court.

Afterwards, he said that no one would believe a child over an adult if she told someone, forcing her to carry the shame alone, which the court heard had a dramatic impact on her school work.
She was too ashamed and embarrassed to tell her Muslim family but eventually confessed to her teacher that she had been assaulted 'in a dirty way,' the court heard.
Ahmed, from Thornbury, Bradford, West Yorkshire, later confessed the crime to his British wife, saying 'the devil had got to him,' Mr Storey said.

He was jailed for ten years after he pleaded guilty on the day of the trial and will be deported after serving his prison sentence, the Recorder of Bradford, Judge Roger Thomas QC, told him.

Mitigating, Mohammed Ramzan, said his client had also destroyed his own life.

'The case has had a devastating effect and he is extremely ashamed of his conduct and what he has done,' he said.

'He will be deported back to Pakistan after serving his sentence and he will take the shame with him.'

Mr Ramzan conceded that the girl will carry the 'torture' with her for the rest of her life.

Judge Thomas said: 'She was unable to take advantage of counselling because it was too painful and difficult to speak about what had happened, even in such a private setting.'
He told Ahmed: 'It is impossible to think that the effects of your crime on her will somehow dissipate in any substantial way.
'One fears that her future years will be very badly affected by what you did to her.'

Ahmed must sign the sex offenders' register indefinitely.
He will 'undoubtedly and inevitably' be deported back to Pakistan, Judge Thomas stated.

Anti-terror police in London have foiled a suspected ISIS plot to launch a Paris-style marauding attack on the streets of Britain after arresting two men, who are believed to be brothers.
MailOnline understands that the threat could have been to attack several sites across the UK - not a lone-wolf attack.

Counter terror officers launched an early morning raid and swooped on the pair in west London, arresting both on suspicion of being involved in the 'preparation of terrorist acts'.
A 19-year-old was detained on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts and a 20-year-old was arrested on suspicion of funding terrorism and failure to disclose information regarding an act of terrorism, Scotland Yard said.

The two men are understood to be brothers, and the plot was thought to have links to ISIS in Syria, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Houses in west and south-west London and the Thames Valley are being searched while vehicles in the same areas are also being inspected.
The Met's operation today is understood to be 'significant' - but Scotland Yard will not release any more details at this time.

The older man was also held on suspicion of preparing acts of terrorism relating to a separate investigation by the South East Counter Terrorism Unit.
Both suspects, from London, are in custody following a pre-planned raid on a west London address by the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command and the South East Counter Terrorism Unit.

Another man, aged 19, was arrested in south-east London on suspicion of a religiously aggravated offence in a separate matter and remains in custody, police said.
He was born in Mosul, travelled with his family to Britain in 2007, and lives with his mother, father and two sisters in a three-storey property owned by the local authority, the Daily Telegraph reported.

The suspect's father had worked for the Iraqi military and had been forced to flee the war-torn country, the paper added.

Celebrating Christmas is under threat unless Britons stand up for traditional values in the face of political correctness, the government's integration tsar has warned.
Dame Louise Casey said some council officials were worried about being called 'racist' if they promoted core British values.
She cited one example where a community centre she visited had put up a 'festive tree' because the 'incredibly well-meaning white manager' did not want to cause offence by using the word Christmas.
She said: 'What offence did he think he was causing? What did we ever think would be offensive about celebrating Christmas with a tree?'

Casey was asked in 2015 by former prime minister David Cameron to lead a comprehensive review into boosting integration to 'bring Britain together as one nation'.
Her study is expected to be published within weeks and will hammer home the importance of upholding British cultures within ethnic communities across the UK.
This, in turn, will help integration and defeat the 'hate-mongers' from the far-right and Islamic extremists, she said at a recent meeting of council leaders.

Casey, who chaired the Government's troubled families unit and led an investigation into social services in Rotherham - where Asian sex gangs had abused as many as 1,600 children - said a desperation to avoid being labelled as racist meant councillors turned a blind eye to the appalling abuse for 16 years.
She said: 'The council and police were in denial about what was happening in their town. That was a tragic failure, not least for the victims.
'We need to be bolder in not just celebrating our history, heritage and culture, but standing up for our democratically decided-upon laws of the land and standing up to those that undermine them', she added.

Her comments will come as a blow to public figures – particularly under New Labour – who championed multiculturalism, the Left-wing doctrine which encourages migrants to keep their own traditions rather than integrate into British ways.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, she added: 'It is not racist to say the pace and rate of immigration has created a lot of change in Britain and for some people that feels too much.
'Or that when a large number of people from a different ethnic or religious background suddenly move into an area that it can be unsettling for those already resident there; or that when a school has a large religious minority population, it can change its character quite quickly.
'Not talking about this and the issues that arise from it only creates more tensions.'

Shvatila je to nakon što su Jamalu, dječaku kojem je ponudila smještaj ne bi li ga spasila iz izbjegličkog kampa, napravljen pregled zuba. No i prije toga Britanka je bila sumnjičava prema dobi Afganistanca jer mu je rasla brada, a vrlo vješto rukovao je oružjem.

U njegovom mobitelu, otkrivene su snimke talibana i zlostavljanja djece. Kako javlja The Sun, nakon toga je uhićen te mu je uskraćen azil.

Britanka je jednom prilikom odvela Jamala u penjački centar gdje je jasno do izražaja došla snaga gornjeg dijela njegovog tijela, a impresionirao je i preciznošću u gađanju u kojem se okušao. Zgrožena je naknadno ispričala da je Afganistanac tijekom boravka u njezinom domu dijelio spavaću sobu s troje njezine ostale djece – stare između 12 i 14 godina.
Ozbiljna prijetnja

“Zanimljivo je da su svi to primjetili osim socijalnih radnika. Ne mogu potvrditi da je riječ o teroristu, no očito je da je u pitanju osoba koja je prošla određenu obuku”, opisala je udomiteljica prisjetivši se i strašnih posljednjih riječi što joj ih je uputio prije uhićenja: “Ubit ću te i znam gdje su ti djeca!”
Ovaj slučaj baca novo svjetlo na činjenicu da je djeci izbjeglicama dozvoljen ulazak u Veliku Britaniju nakon zatvaranja velikog izbjegličkog kampa u Calaisu. Boris Johnson accused Saudi Arabia of abusing Islam and acting as a puppeteer in proxy wars throughout the Middle East, in remarks that flout a longstanding Foreign Office convention not to criticise the UK’s allies in public.

The foreign secretary told a conference in Rome last week that the behaviour of Saudi Arabia, and also Iran, was a tragedy, adding that there was an absence of visionary leadership in the region that was willing to reach out across the Sunni-Shia divide.

At the event, Johnson said: “There are politicians who are twisting and abusing religion and different strains of the same religion in order to further their own political objectives. That’s one of the biggest political problems in the whole region. And the tragedy for me – and that’s why you have these proxy wars being fought the whole time in that area – is that there is not strong enough leadership in the countries themselves.”

The foreign secretary then identified Saudi Arabia and Iran specifically, saying: “That’s why you’ve got the Saudis, Iran, everybody, moving in, and puppeteering and playing proxy wars.”

Ronald Fiddler, to use the name he was born with, was put up in a posh country hotel for his ‘world exclusive’ interview about his two years of ‘hell’ in Guantanamo Bay.

Few who read his harrowing account, spread over six pages of a red-top newspaper, would have begrudged him a little luxury — or the £60,000 he was paid for telling his story within days of being freed in 2004 from the notorious jail at the U.S. naval base on Cuba.

Fiddler, 50, spoke of shackles and solitary confinement. He told how he was beaten with batons and pepper-sprayed. He described being kept inside a wire cage open to the elements, with no privacy or protection from rats, snakes and scorpions.

But most of all, Ronald Fiddler — a middle-class, Christian-born web designer from Manchester — protested his complete innocence. He had no terrorist links whatsoever, he said.

‘When I was interrogated, the Americans used to say: “How come you’re so clean? We’ve put your name through Interpol and we can’t even find a speeding ticket.”

‘I told them that was because I’ve never done anything wrong in my life. You don’t have anything on me, and you still won’t have anything on me when I walk out of here.’

That would be the same ‘Ronnie’ Fiddler who — using the nomme de guerre Abu Zakariya al-Britani — carried out an Islamic State suicide bombing mission in Iraq this week, driving a 4x4 packed with explosives into a military base outside Mosul.

IS made a statement praising their ‘martyrdom-seeking brother’ and posted a video on the internet of Fiddler (al-Britani) grinning behind the wheel of the weaponised truck.

It’s hard not to believe that Fiddler was having one last laugh at our expense. The five-figure sum he received for his joint interview with the Daily Mirror and ITV was small change by comparison with the sum his lawyer squeezed out of the Government for his client under the auspices of the Human Rights Act.

In 2010, Fiddler was awarded up to £1million of taxpayers’ money after claiming MI6 was complicit in his mistreatment by the Americans.

Where did all that money go?

Fiddler bought a smart semi in Stockport, Greater Manchester, for £220,000 shortly after his cheque arrived, buying the house outright.

But there were no flash cars (Fiddler didn’t even own a car), no expensive holidays and no other obvious signs of conspicuous spending. In fact, Fiddler still had an unpaid county court fine of £2,151.

This has added to the growing suspicion that the lion’s share of his out-of-court settlement ended up in the hands of IS. The suspicion was strengthened by his widow, 34-year-old Shukee Begum, a law graduate and mother of his five young children, who has not been seen at their home for more than two years.

On Thursday night, however, she spoke to Channel 4 News from a secret location in the Middle East.

Ms Begum said she and the children had followed Fiddler to Syria in a failed attempt to convince him to come home. She was adamant she was not an IS supporter, and said she feared she could face terrorism charges if she returned to Britain.

She revealed that there was not much left from the financial settlement, which she, too, believed may have been used to fund her husband’s extremist activities.

She claimed his radicalisation began only in late 2013, and was a response to the ‘atrocities committed by the regime in Syria’. Other relatives say it was his time in Guantanamo which radicalised him. One thing is certain: his decision to become a jihadi has condemned his family to an uncertain and potentially perilous future.

Ronald Fiddler also had two daughters, now 20 and 16, and an 18-year-old son from a previous marriage. So, in all, eight young lives have been scarred by his fanatical allegiance to IS.

How could a husband and father have committed such a brutal atrocity? This is perhaps the single most disturbing question at the centre of this case.

Ronnie Fiddler, as he was known in his formative years, was not brought up a Muslim. He was from a family of proud, second-generation Jamaican immigrants in Manchester.

Ronnie was the youngest in the family. His parents separated soon after his birth, and he and his two sisters were raised by their church-going father, an upholsterer by trade, and his new partner.

Contemporaries at Ducie High secondary school in Manchester described ‘Ronnie’ as quiet and introverted, but he soon developed into a normal teenager who liked hip-hop music and had numerous girlfriends.

It was after he completed a computer course at Wythenshawe Technical College that friends and family noticed a profound change. He stopped going to clubs and gave up smoking and drinking.

The reason soon became apparent. He had converted to Islam and was now calling himself Jamal Al-Harith. He donned traditional Islamic clothes and started praying five times a day.

His conversion was inspired, he said, by the biography of Malcolm X, one of the founders of the Black Power movement in Sixties America.

In his post-Guantanamo interviews, Fiddler said he visited several European countries in his early 20s but decided to go further afield to learn more about Muslims.

Among the places he went to was Sudan, where he began studying the Koran and learning Arabic. He then continued to travel extensively in the Middle East between 1992 and 1996.

On his return to Britain, he met his first wife, Debbie Odoffin, in North London. He was working as a computer analyst; she was a recruitment manager. They had three children in just four years; the son was a promising footballer once on the books of Tottenham Hotspur.

The marriage was short-lived, and by 2000 Fiddler was on his travels again: to Australia, to visit a young woman he had met online. Samantha Cook was the daughter of an Australian politician. Fiddler stayed with her in Perth for several months.

Then, in 2001, he travelled to Pakistan — as an ‘innocent backpacker’, he claimed. What happened next is illustrated by an extraordinary piece of leaked information: Fiddler’s Guantanamo file.

The report, compiled by the U.S. military Joint Task Force Guantanamo, which operates the detention camp, was part of a huge cache of classified data published on the WikiLeaks whistleblowing website in April 2011.

According to these papers, as Ronnie was travelling through Pakistan in 2001, the truck in which he had hitched a lift was hijacked by the Taliban.

His captors suspected him of being a British spy and took him to Kandahar prison in neighbouring Afghanistan. Here he was found by U.S. forces who invaded the country in the aftermath of 9/11.

Initially, Fiddler was transferred to Guantanamo for questioning ‘because he was expected to have knowledge of Taliban treatment of prisoners’. But later, his claim that he was just a backpacker when he was captured by the Taliban was undermined by ‘new information’ suggesting he ‘was probably involved in a former terrorist attack against the U.S.’.

His links with a leading Al Qaeda operative are also disclosed in the file. Fiddler had accompanied this individual, known as Abu Bakr, on a trip to Sudan nine years earlier, in 1992, ‘during the same time that Osama Bin Laden and his network were active’ in the African country.

Abu Bakr was a well-known Al Qaeda operative at the time. Since then, he is believed to have become one of America’s most valuable informants and is now living under an assumed identity in a U.S. witness-protection programme.

There were other doubts, too. A Sudanese school where he claimed to have studied in 1992 did not exist. The only reason, according to his file, that could be found for ‘foreigners to go to Khartoum, Sudan, was for Islamic studies in which a majority of the time the individuals were recruited for training in sabotage’.

Fiddler was also subjected to a polygraph test — which he failed.

‘The detainee,’ the report says, ‘was asked if he had any contact with any persons connected with extremist groups prior to going to Afghanistan, and if he went to Afghanistan for jihad. He answered “no” to both questions and was found to be deceptive each time.’

Based on the latest intelligence, the report concluded, Fiddler should be assessed as ‘being affiliated with Al Qaeda’, was a ‘high threat to the U.S., its interests and allies’ and that his previous recommendation for release should, therefore, be ‘revoked’.

All this was known to Downing Street. Nonetheless, following intense lobbying by Tony Blair’s government, Fiddler was released shortly afterwards, in March 2004, as one of five British detainees who touched down at RAF Northolt on a winter’s night.

He is far from the only example of where this kind of clemency has been gravely mistaken.

Nearly a third of the inmates freed from Guantanamo Bay — more than 200 in total, of all nationalities — have returned to active jihadist militancy, or are suspected of having done so, and many others have gone missing, according to figures from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in Washington.

After Ronnie was released, there came meetings with perhaps the two most important people in his life. One was his lawyer, Robert Lizar, whose past clients included IRA suspects. The other was his future wife, Shukee Begum.

The couple lived in various addresses around Manchester before moving into their Victorian semi in a cul-de-sac in the Heaton Chapel suburb of Stockport more than two years ago — not long after Mr Lizar had secured Fiddler’s payout from the government. Estate agent photographs show a modern galley kitchen, luxurious bathroom, conservatory and big garden.

Neighbours remember him as a dour, strange figure. ‘We used to see him walking his two older girls to school in this long, thick coat, even in summer,’ said one.

Another recalled: ‘My son was playing football in the street and accidentally kicked the ball towards the girls. They ran over and started excitedly kicking the ball. But he pulled them away, saying, “It’s not allowed”.’

Fiddler believed activities such as football distracted his children from Islamic prayers.

Then, almost overnight in 2014, the family were gone. Only now do we know that it was to Syria.

During her interview with Channel 4 this week, Ms Begum said her husband had become more extreme after contact in Manchester with Raphael Hostey (known as Abu Qaqa al-Britani), an IS recruiter prior to his death in a drone strike in Syria last year.

A number of Fiddler’s extended family, including his aunt Sonia Fiddler, now live in Florida.

‘We were raised to believe that in every situation God intervenes,’ she said. ‘We love everyone. The ideology of taking someone’s life for a cause is not something that any of us would support. I can’t believe the name Fiddler is associated with something like this.’

In his own deluded mind, Ronald Fiddler must have thought he had plenty to smile about as he hurtled towards ‘martyrdom’ this week — that he’d pulled the wool over the eyes of so many.

It is hard to believe he gave a second thought to the devastated relatives — and eight fatherless children — he left behind.
