I think this is sensationalist reporting. I would like to know where these people plan on going. I don't think any country in the EU including Germany that could support an influx of people on that scale considering how many economies in the EU are sinking and how many people in the EU would rather go elsewhere to find work.

Croats in Bosnia to be halved when Croatia joins EU

Non-profit organisation "Croatia Libertas" in Bosnia and Herzegovina has conducted a survey asking its Bosnian Croat citizens: "Will you look for a job in the EU when Croatia joins the European Union", with a huge 98 per cent saying they would.

According to the survey, which was conducted with 4,000 people, every able bodied Bosnian-Herzegovinian Croat will search for a job in the EU, thanks to possessing Croatian citizenship.

Croatian daily newspaper Vecernji list writes that if the survey is accurate then the number of Croats in Bosnia will be halved when Croatia enters the European Union.

I just came across this today. Keep in mind that "The Atlantic" is an influentual magazine. This is how Americans see the economic situation!

Croats are not interested in any of EU countries except Germany and Austria and maybe Slovenia. They could leave yesterday and they can leave tommorow if they want to. But they are not going. Maybe in small numbers, but nothing drastical I believe.
France and UK are not interesting, while other EU economies are collapsing (except Poland, and maybe Sweden & Finland).
