I want to draw attention on this British historian of Croatian origin, because he is promoting Greater Bosniak nationalism through his works for years, or he is just serving as its promoter without awareness, arguing for retrograde Anglo-American foreign policy paradigm of the 90s. This is his blog:

Hoare perfectly aligns with the reigning Anglo-American paradigm in which liberal interventionism is the methodology by which Anglo-American values (and more importantly, capital) can spread while national sovereignty is a regressive 19th century concept.

This is why Hoare can appear quite good in his defense of Croatia against Milosevic, while at the same time harshly criticizing Tudjman and especially BiH Croats. He is a budding court historian in that he is a regime-loyalist. One would put him closest to Stjepan Mesic in terms of views and adherence to prevailing trends from the present centres of power.

I've been following Hoare for some time myself and have corresponded with him. I haven't spoken to him in respect to events over the past two weeks but will read his blog entries and send him an email. I'll post the reply here if given permission from him to do so (just as I did with Matthew Parish).

Thanks for your comment and review on him. It would be very interesting to put his answer here, if you'll be given permission. :wink

Well, I would like to know if he is fluent in Croatian. If he is, then I would ask him is he familiar with the Status journal and suggest him to read it. :zubati

Also, I would like to know whether he recognized the historiographical work of Ivica Lučić, especially his latest book Uzroci rata - Bosna i Hercegovina od 1980. do 1992. godine.

Finally, what would be his comments on latest European parliament resolution towards Bosnia and Herzegovina and change of policy with disapproving of centralism.

"he has argued in favour of arming the opponents of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria, "one of the world's most murderous and tyrannical regimes", according to Hoare.[9]"

Enough said. He is obviously an exponent of mainstream political ideologies in his country.

His mother is, as far as I know, Branka Magaš, Croatian correspondent/journalist from London during 1980s-1990s.

While not mostly bad, his articles are, IMO, a confluence of at least two factors:

* British policy as exemplified in Noel Malcolm & comp.

* Croatian pro-Islamic & pro-Bosnian Muslim myopia (Ivo Banac, Chris Cviić, Ivan Lovrenović, daidže, ..).

So- is he a dunce or corrupt ? My take- corrupt. Give him Sadkovich's book on Tuđman (he reads Croatian), a superb historical work- or any other Sadkovich's serious text: http://hrcak.srce.hr/search/?q=james+sadkovichn- his answer will be vocal silence.

My verdict: corruption & affirmation Anglo-American foreign policy.
No personal integrity as a political scientist or a historian.

That's it, I would mostly agree with your opinion about him. :wink
