A gunman singled out Christians, telling them they would see God in “one second,” during a rampage at an Oregon college Thursday that left at least nine innocent people dead and several more wounded, survivors and authorities said.

A Twitter user named @bodhilooney, who said her grandmother was at the scene of the carnage, tweeted that if victims said they were Christian, “then they were shot in the head. If they said no, or didn’t answer, they were shot in the legs.”
Gunman Chris Harper-Mercer’s disdain for religion was evident in an online profile, in which he became a member of a “doesn’t like organized religion” group on an Internet dating site.
Kort­ney Moore, 18, said she saw the teacher of her Writing 115 class get shot in the head at the college’s Snyder Hall before the gunman started asking people to state their religion and opening fire, the city’s News-Review newspaper reported.
Harper-Mercer, 26, was killed in a shootout with police outside one of the classrooms, said Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin.
“There was an exchange of gunfire,” he said. “The shooter threat was neutralized.”
Although police put the death toll at 10 — including Harper-Mercer — with seven people injured, Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum had said 13 people died.

In other developments:
The killer was carrying four guns — three pistols and a rifle — a source told CNN.
 An anonymous user wrote in an ominous post on the online bulletin board 4chan Wednesday night: “Some of you guys are alright. Don’t go to school tomorrow if you are in the northwest. happening thread will be posted tomorrow morning. so long space robots.”
Online profiles linked to Harper-Mercer showed that he had a fascination with the terror tactics of the Irish Republican Army, and bought Nazi memorabilia. He also wrote a blog post that mentioned Vester Lee Flanagan, who murdered a Virginia newswoman and cameraman live on air, according to CBS News. “Seems like the more people you kill, the more you’re in the limelight,” he wrote.

A former president of the college said that it has only one unarmed security officer and that the community decided against armed guards last year. “I suspect this is going to start a discussion across the country about how community colleges prepare themselves for events like this,” Joe Olson told CBS.
President Obama issued a plea for greater gun control and bemoaned that America is “the only advanced country on Earth [that] sees these kind of mass shooting every few months.”
The attack brought the number of mass shootings in the nation this year to 294, according to the Mass Shooting Tracker. The website defines mass shootings as incidents in which four or more people are killed or injured by gunfire.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene inside Snyder Hall.

People were scrambling “like ants” when the gunman opened fire around 10:38 a.m., according to Brady Winder, a 23-year-old student from Portland.
“People [were] screaming, ‘Get out!’ ” he told The News-Review, adding he saw a girl frantically swimming across a creek to escape.
Student Hannah Miles was sitting in a classroom next door when she heard a pop that sounded like a yardstick slapping on a chalkboard, she said.
Everyone in her classroom fled as more gunfire erupted.
Student Brandy Winter posted on Facebook, “I ran to the edge of the campus, down a hill and waited. From talking with a student in the classroom where it happened, almost every person in the room was shot by a man with four guns.’’
Another student, Luke Rogers, said he saw blood in a classroom as he was evacuated from the building.
“As we passed by the classroom, on the ground there were drops of blood,” the first-year Umpqua student told CNN. “We didn’t see any bodies. We saw books on the ground.”

One witness told The New York Times that she heard gunshots outside her classroom.
She said a middle-aged woman then tried to close the door and prevent the shooter from getting inside, but she was shot several times in the stomach.
The gunman “was just out there, hanging outside the door,” Cassandra Welding told the Times “and she slumped over and I knew something wasn’t right. And they’re like, ‘She got shot, she got shot.’ And everyone is panicking.”

Douglas County Fire Marshal Ray Shoulfer said victims were found in “multiple classrooms,” according to CNN.
The sheriff said the shooter was taken down by two officers who rushed to the scene without backup minutes into the shooting.
In a national address, Obama lamented that mass shootings have become routine in America.
“I hope and pray that I don’t have to come out again during my tenure as president to offer my condolences to families in these circumstances,” he said. “But based on my experience as president, I can’t guarantee that, and that’s terrible to say, and it can change.”

Stotine tisuća ljudi prosvjedovale su u Berlinu protiv planiranog trgovinskog sporazuma između Europe i SAD-a za koji kažu da je nedemokratski i da će smanjiti sigurnost hrane, rada i ekološke standarde.

Organizatori, savez ekoloških udruga, zaklada i oporbenih stranaka kažu da je 250.000 ljudi sudjelovalo u prosvjedu protiv trgovinskog sporazuma EU-a sa SAD-om i Kanadom, puno više nego što su očekivali.

A number of the widows and family members of Indian farmers with whom the journalists have spoken have the same story to share: in order to cultivate the genetically modified cotton, known as Bt cotton, produced by American agricultural biotech giant Monsanto, farmers put themselves into huge debt. However, when the crops did not pay off, they turned to pesticides to solve the problem – by drinking the poison to kill themselves.

The European GMO “ban-wagon” is on a roll

As of the October 3rd cut-off date, the European Commission reported receiving a total of nineteen requests from member states to opt-out of the cultivation of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Under the new rules passed by the European Parliament earlier this year, decisions on GMOs will be left up to the individual member states notwithstanding any approvals granted at the Europe-wide bloc level.

Applications to opt-out must be approved by the Commission. The biotech companies involved, Monsanto, Syngenta, and Pioneer can review and oppose the ban. Even if a company does oppose the opt-out request, member states can still invoke ‘substantial grounds’ for enforcing a ban, such as environmental or agricultural reasons.

Responding to the first set of opt-out requests, Monsanto fired back in their blog that “these ‘nimby’ (not-in-my-backyard) nations’ decisions contradict and undermine the scientific consensus. . .” Although Monsanto did acquiesce to requests by Latvia and Greece, market access and regulatory issues will figure prominantly in the on-going negotiations of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) trade agreement.

Farm policy and practices are much different in the EU than in America. U.S stakeholder groups and trade analysts have frequently criticized the European attitude. In a statement to Agri-Pulse last year, Frances B. Smith, Adjunct Fellow with the pro-trade Competitive Enterprise Institute, said “The EU system uses the precautionary principle, which allows populist beliefs to evade the science-based rules.” She also said genetically modified foods, biotechnology and pesticides are some of the top contentious issues in negotiations with the EU.

Although rejection by so much of Europe is a set back for the agro-chemical and biotech industry, especially when it comes to losing out with large agricultural producers like France and Germany, there is potential for a much greater ripple effect in developing markets. This is particularly critical for Africa where many countries closely follow trends in Europe, and where a great deal of pressure is being applied to lift bans currently in effect.

The 19 EU member countries opting out are: Austria, Belgium for the Wallonia region, Britain for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland and Slovenia. There are currently 28 member countries in the Union.

Obama, vrati Nobelovu nagradu za mir

Na sajtu Bijele kuće objavljena je peticija putem koje građani pozivaju predsjednika SAD Baraka Obamu da vrati Nobelovu nagradu za mir koja mu je dodijeljena 2009. godine.



U tekstu peticije osuđuju se odluke američkog predsjednika koje se tiču zemalja Bliskog istoka i oštro se kritikuje spoljna politika Vašingtona po pitanju smjene režima u drugim zemljama.

Pored toga, ukazuje se na razaranja koja je američka vojska počinila u Libiji i Siriji ne postigavši nikakve rezultate.

Autor peticije takođe naglašava da bi Amerikanci trebalo pozitivno da gledaju na vazdušne napade ruske avijacije na pozicije terorističke organizacije Islamske države.

Authorities identify UC Merced knife attacker, ISIS praises attack

Police identified Faisal Mohammad as the University of California, Merced knife attacker but said “personal animosities” were behind the incident and there was “nothing to indicate political or religious motivations to what he did.”
Police said they are still trying to work out exactly what “personal animosities” fueled the attack, during which Faisal Mohammad, 18, burst into a classroom and allegedly smiled as he slashed and stabbed two peers, a construction worker, and a staff member with an eight to 10-inch hunting knife before being fatally shot by campus police.

Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke said he asked the FBI and Department of Homeland Security to investigate Mohammad. Twenty agents searched the freshman’s background, family, computer, dorm room and social media sites. The result of the federal probe found “nothing to indicate political or religious motivations to what he did.”

“There was absolutely nothing they could find to indicate anything other than his being a college student at UC Merced,” Warne told reporters, according to the San Jose Mercury News, adding that the attack had been the result of “personal animosities.”

Warnke said investigators found items in Mohammad’s backpack indicating he had “greater intentions to do harm,” including zip tie handcuffs, petroleum jelly, a night vision scope, a hammer device to break windows, and duct tape. Warnke said he was slowed down by a construction worker named Byron Price and was ultimately stopped by a campus police officer.

“Petroleum jelly could be used as an explosive – a poor man’s C4,” Warnke said. “We don’t know what he was going to do with it. We don’t know what his intentions were.”

Warnke said there was also a handwritten list of items to put in the backpack. Officials managed to recover all of them except for scissors.

Mohammad’s actions drew praise on Thursday from a Twitter account associated with ISIS, which just last week released a series of videos calling for lone wolf stabbing attacks, Fox News reported.

“May Allah accept him,” read a tweet in Arabic from the Twitter account.

When reporters asked Warnke about the tweet, he said IS was most likely just taking advantage of the attacker’s ethnic name to instill terror.

Mohammad was a computer science and engineering major who has been described as a loner. His suitemate at the college dormitory, Andrew Velasquez, said he didn’t talk much and kept to himself.

“Every time I would try and say something, he would just ignore it,” Velasquez told local KFSN.

“Why him? Why would someone want to do that? I just didn’t expect it to be him,” said Velasquez.

UC Merced Chancellor Dorothy Leland said the incident was a horrible act committed by a single individual but stressed that, based on the evidence gathered so far, “we have no reason to believe this was related to terrorism.”

The sheriff’s office said one student remained hospitalized but is expected to recover, and the other student was treated and has already been released. The staff member suffered a collapsed lung in the attack and is still recovering after successful surgery. The construction worker was treated and released Wednesday.

Chancellor Leland said a vigil is planned on Friday at the Scholars Lane Bridge.

UC MERCED MASS STABBER’S MANIFESTO: ‘PRAISE ALLAH,’ SHERIFF: NOTHING INDICATES HE DID THIS FOR ‘ALLAH’

University of California Merced mass stabber Faisal Mohammad left behind a manifesto that referenced Allan numerous times and revealed plans to “cut someone’s head off.”

But Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke assured students and members of the UC Merced community that Mohammad was not motivated by “terrorism” or “religion.”

According to Fox News, Mohammad had a two-page manifesto in one of his pockets when police shot and killed him Wednesday. The manifesto contained “a numeric list outlining his plans of who he wanted to kill, and how, including beheading and shooting his victims.”

Breitbart News previously reported that part of Mohammad’s plan was to zip-tie his fellow students to their desks, then call police and ambush them once they reached the classroom. Mohammad wanted to take guns from the police, then use those guns to shoot a specific list of fellow students, including students who had barred him from being part of a study group.

Fox News reports that Mohammad had an “8-inch hunting knife”with him when he entered the classroom Wednesday at 8 a.m. Based on the manifesto, law enforcement says there is no reason to think his stabbing spree would have ended as quickly as it did were it not for the resistance he faced from construction worker Byron Price and, finally, from the campus police who shot him dead.

After reading Mohammad’s manifesto Sheriff Warnke observed:

There was a gruesome statement he made about wanting to cut someone’s head off and kill two people with one bullet, and he planned to shoot the police. He did not have a firearm with him and didn’t seem to have a lot of experience with firearms because he thought he could kill two people with one bullet. He reminded himself in the list to raise the gun slowly. He scripted everything out in chronological order.

Warnke added, “I remember seeing four or five times, scribbled on the side of the two-page manifesto, where he wrote something like ‘praise Allah.'” But Warnke was quick to point out that Mohammad’s mass stabbing was not motivated by “terrorism” or “religion.”

It is interesting to note that witnesses to the classroom stabbing scene said Mohammad had a smile on his face as he tried to carry out his gruesome intentions.

House approves Syrian refugees bill

The House passed a bill Thursday that would block Syrian and Iraqi refugees from entering the country unless they pass strict background checks — setting up a collision with President Barack Obama and Senate Democrats.

The bill has unanimous support from Republicans, who were joined by 47 Democrats — even after the Obama administration made a last-minute pitch to persuade wavering House Democrats to oppose the GOP-written bill. And with 289 "yes" votes, Republicans also won a veto-proof majority for the measure.

Riverside police dispatchers have broadcast a general advisory that the suspects involved in the shootings in San Bernardino may have fled in a black GMC Yukon, heading northbound on Waterman Avenue, roughly 40 minutes ago.

The broadcast indicated there were unconfirmed reports the suspects were male and of Middle Eastern origin, “armed with AK-47s and wearing body armor.”

The broadcast was part of a region-wide alert issued by the San Bernardino Police Department.

Farooq Saeed has been identified as the possible San Bernardino shooting suspect, who reports indicate walked into a medical facility for people with developmental disabilities and opened fire.

Veliki američki problem je što po pitanju oružja demokrati traže potpunu zabranu, dok se vrlo utjecajna NRA bori protiv bilo kakvih kontrola i restrikcija. U dobrom dijelu država simpatizer Islama kojeg prati FBI može bez problema kupiti automatsku pušku i nema načina da se to s trenutnim odnosom snaga spriječi.
