Pa nije uobičajeno iskoristiti taj izraz, ali može, pogotovo ako hoćeš da ispadneš elokventan u društvu, pa koristiš fensi izraze.

Whenever you're in doubt as to correct usage of a term or phrase consult Google Books (not ordinary Google Search). I've never heard "facilitated" used in the context Carmello mentioned. It's a much more passive verb.

https://www.google.com/search?tbm=bks&q=%22he+facilitated%22

A "passive verb" is something else altogether, it's when an action is being performed on the subject of the sentence.

I used it in a different, more descriptive context. Maybe, I can illustrate the difference with respect to "facilitated", ranked from most passive to active.

John observed the meeting.
John facilitated the meeting.
John chaired the meeting.

Thanks for the explanation. I'm ashamed to admit, but I didn't even know if such a thing exists in our grammar. After I googled it, i found out that it does, and its called "trpni glagol". Then I remembered that I actually did know that, just forgot it, a lot of time passed since elementary school, and I'm not a linguist by profession. Many holes in my brain.

Oh, and another question if you don't mind. Which one is British, and which one is American spelling? "Block" and "Bloc". Or are they different words altogether, "Bloc" as a group of enteties, and "Block" as a verb (blocked something).

Ministry of Sound je napisao/la:

John observed the meeting.
John facilitated the meeting.
John chaired the meeting.

For me all of the above examples are active ( active voice)
Passive would be:
Meeting was observed by John...

My understanding is that bloc and block are two different words with different meaning.

Yes, I also think that they are different words, but I'm not 100% sure so I would like a native speaker to clarify that for me.

I understand what you mean.
Ministry is not a native speaker of the English language since his first language was what was spoken in Sarajevo.
After so long using English, he is probably next to
a native speaker .

Well he went there when he was a kid, and now he's in his 40-ies, so he is pretty much a native speaker.

We weren't talking about passive and active voice. It was a discussion about the appropriate usage of the term "facilitate/d", on other words, how active is the involvement of the subject if he/she "facilitates" something. I said that it's a very "passive verb" which caused some confusion, as I was just trying to illustrate that someone who "facilitates" is closer to an observer than an active participant.

I'll try for an explanation, but feel free to check it on Google.

Once upon a time, French was a language of dipomacy and one of its legacies is that certain French words have become commonly used in English in the context of international affairs. In this context, "Bloc", when used to denote a trading/military association of countries has displaced "block" (not the verb) through usage.

"It is what it is." Just has to be paired up with the act of shrugging one's shoulders, to really drive the point home that doing anything to change the situation would be futile.

I had some of my colleagues from the UK who say "It is what it is", so I believe it is quite acceptable.
