Kolegice SarajkaDjevojka, ma pusti BBC-a. Svi znamo da siri dezinformacije i ciste nebuloze. Decko je ocigledno usamljen, pa pronalazi razonodu u ovakvim stvarima. Sumnjam da ljudi doista i citaju sto postavlja. Ali eto, "dize tenziju" forumu. Meni je nekako ful kul, jer rijetko sam u stanju da se smijem ovakvim nebulozama.

Half of all migrants claiming to be children are lying, according to Austrian officials who say the 'juveniles' are sometimes in their 30s and have grey hair and beards.

The unnamed official told Austrian journalists: 'It is completely absurd. We have men turning up here with full beards and grey hair claiming to be children.'

Austrian officials said that of 2,200 asylum seekers claiming to be children, 951 were found to be considerably older following medical tests.

But under Austrian law every person claiming to be a juvenile has to be given child status, until medical tests can prove otherwise.

An official from Austria's Bundesamt für Fremdenwesen und Asyl (BFA) immigration agency said two million euros (£1.59m) had been spent on these medical tests.

Very few migrants from Syria, Afghanistan or Nigeria have birth certificates or other identity papers which can be relied upon to give an accurate estimate of their age.

One police officer working at the Traiskirchen refugee centre, south of Vienna, told the Kronen Zeitung newspaper: 'We have fully grown men with beards and grey hair who are telling us that they are 17 years old.

He added: 'When they tell us that they are children, it instantly gives them the right to have their family join them as they are children. It also gives them better conditions and legal rights especially with regard to their asylum applications.

'Even when it's completely obvious that the person in front of us is not 17 years old, we are forced to treat them as a child until medical tests prove otherwise,' he added.

A spokesman for Interior Minister Karl-Heinz Grundboeck said: 'If there is a suggestion that a person claiming to be a child is not the age they claim, then a test is organised. That means a medical examination and a professional report by a qualified expert.'

The number of fake claims has shot up.

In 2014 there was only one bogus child claim out of 178, whereas last year there were 951 out of 2,200.

The majority of those 'fake children' were from Afghanistan (691), with only 46 from Somalia, 44 from Nigeria and 40 from Pakistan.

In a small number of cases the medical test cannot prove adulthood.

Migrants with no legitimate asylum claim are purchasing false 'full life stories' of having fled war and persecution.

A 'Syrian background story' could sell for around 50 euros, an interpreter who works in Calais told French media.

The fraudsters, known as 'life sellers' work in Calais and Paris, where thousands are desperate obtain a right to remain in Europe.

Around 1,000 child migrants were reported to have gone missing in Greece but it appears that many of them may have actually been adults who managed to get across the border and tried their luck in Hungary, Austria or Bulgaria.

A migrant's age can have a far-reaching impact on their lives.

In 2005 a woman was shot dead while holding a baby at a party in Peckham, south London.

Her killers Timy and Diamond Babamuboni claimed to be 15 and 17 at the time but police had severe doubts and both had forged Nigerian birth certificates.

Police had wanted to carry out dental tests which would have identified their age but the pair both refused to co-operate.

The Babamuboni brothers are believed to have now served their sentence and be free. It is not known if they have been deported.

Austria passes law to shut off border if refugee influx is too great

The legislation was comfortably passed 37 votes to 20 by the Austrian federal chamber, after it was given the green light by the larger parliamentary chamber on April 27.

The approval of the law means Vienna will now be able to declare a state of emergency if too many migrants are try to enter Austria. Depending on the severity of the situation, this measure could be extended for three separate six-month terms.

Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka defended the measure and insisted Austria had no other option as long as "so many other European Union members fail to do their part" to stop the heavy influx of refugees.

"We cannot shoulder the whole world's burden," he said, adding that Austria had received 90,000 asylum applications in 2015 and had enforced a cap of 37,500 for 2016.

The Green Party has been vocal in their condemnation of the new piece of legislation. They believe it may even be unconstitutional and in breach of EU law.

“That is an absolute breach,” said the head of the Green Party Eva Glawischnig, in view of how the legislation contradicts the European Convention on Human Rights.

Dr Christian Schmaus, a law expert in Austrian asylum cases, told the Local it will be difficult for Austria to abide by international treaties, such as giving safe passage to those affected by war if the controversial law to turn away migrants at its borders is put into practice.

The CEO of the Vienna Center for Societal Security Research said the new legislation is no more than a “short-sighted reaction” to the recent election results and will not be any help in terms of the migrant crisis.

“The Austrians at the moment are following a very short-sighted populist sentiment… we had the election recently and there was a move towards rightwing populists, and this kind of legislation is simply a reaction to that. But it will not be effective, and it will not solve the problem, and it will also have a negative impact on the overall European strategy to handle this problem,” Reinhard Kreissl told RT.

Austria has also been locked in a dispute with Italy over a border crossing between the two countries. Vienna wanted to close the Brenner Pass in the Alps by erecting a fence up to four meters high in places, because it fears migrants will use the pass to cross into Austria. However, the move incensed Italian politicians, with Italy’s Interior Minister Angelino Alfano calling it “a waste of money.”

The Italian government feared that closing the border route could affect trade. The pass is Italy's main commercial route to Germany, its top-trading partner, by way of Austria.


The threat was not carried out, but has led to Italy introducing greater border controls. On May 13, Rome said it had deployed 110 more guards to keep migrants from traveling into Austria.

"If Italy carries on acting as it has done until now, namely by carrying out controls on trains, at its interior borders and at exit points, then there is no need (for controls)," a spokeswoman for Sobotka said.

Migrants To Be Deported For Minor Crimes After Preventable, Brutal Murder

After the apparently motiveless murder of a woman by an illegal migrant which shocked a nation, Austria considers getting tough on deportations of migrant criminals.
The murder of a cleaning lady by an illegal migrant in the early hours of the morning in Vienna last week has sent a shock wave through the Austrian establishment.

It was revealed that the perpetrator was a man with a long criminal history who was not only in the country illegally, but had been scheduled for deportation years before the murder took place. To prevent such a thing from ever happening again the government is now considering much harsher measures, Kurier reports.

Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka and Justice Minister Wolfgang Brandstetter announced that they want to counter the huge rise in crime in Austria that followed the migrant crisis. Recent statistics have shown that while crime fell in 2014 and 2015, it is expected to have dramatically increased this year.

Konrad Kogler, Director of Public Security, has said that the rise in crime is especially prevalent in assaults, thefts, drug possession and trafficking, and criminal damage. He said, “over 60 percent of perpetrators are young men between the ages of 14 and 40”.

Mr Sobotka and Mr Brandstetter say they have three main focuses for dealing with the rise of migrant crime. The first will be detention until trial for crimes, where previously police would release criminals pending a potential court date.

Such changes will also affect migrants who are scheduled to be deported. As with the cases of the Kenyan who committed the Brunnenmarkt murder and the Gambian migrant who killed an American au pair earlier this year, both men were scheduled to be deported when they committed the murders.

The second pillar will be keeping better records of offenders. Currently in Austria only criminals sentenced to one year or more in prison have their DNA stored with police. The government would like to see mandatory DNA records kept of all offenders on file.

In addition, the government will be considering using similar methods employed by the police to cope with football hooligans by making them appear at police stations at regular times in order to keep track of potential criminals.

The final strategy will be what Justice Minister Brandsetter is calling a “deportation offensive” saying that overcrowded prisons should not be an excuse for arrest warrants not being issued.

He said he would like to see many European criminals sent back to their home countries to serve their sentences, rather than in Austria, noting that at present there are at least 600 Slovenians and 612 Serbs in Austrian prisons.

Mr Brandsetter made no mention of migrant criminals who come from outside of Europe, such as the many cases of migrants who have sexually assaulted women in train stations like Vienna’s Praterstern, or have been involved in mass brawls or inter-ethnic gang warfare.

The proposals to reform the system are to be looked at over the summer, though many in Austria wonder why these measures were not there in the first place.
