Thank you in advance.

Five to the power three or five to the third power. I've found it on the web.

Five to the power of three is more commonly used, but they are both correct.

Is there any differences in meaning among the verbs "swirl", "twirl" and "whirl"?

Where did you find those? :D

I needed to google to find out the meaning of some of them.
You don't need them. If living in London, you would encounter those once in 10 years. While reading a book on your commute.

We're running out of time.

There isn't enough time left.

But your context doesn't make sense. Are you asking for more time (potrebno je malo više vremena)?

The season is nearing an end...

There are only a couple of rounds left until the end of the season...

The season is nearing its conclusion...

The season is almost over

-----

The school period is almost over

-----

As you see, referring to "time" in this context isn't common.

Malo vremena => little time, not much time.

U smislu => In context

Ostalo malo vremena => there's not much time left.

Potrebno je malo vremena za učiniti nešto => Time is required to learn something.

The use of little time is given below.

For example: say we're completing an exam. The examiner may say,"hurry up there is little time left before pencils down?"

I have read somewhere the sentence below:

Citat:
framework agreement for peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the annexes thereto

Is it possible to say the same thing in this way:

Citat:
framework agreement for peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its annexes

I think it sounds much more better and it is a simpler structure of the sentence?

Thank you @shodan.

Are there any differences in meaning of the adjectives "civil" and "civic"? Are they interchangeable or not?

Not completely.

You can also use civil as a subject complement.
For example you can say:

I'm civil to you. Meaning polite, nice, civilized.

You can't use the other adjective in this context.

There are also some fixed expressions that involve civil.
As in the term civil servant.
Meaning government official, or in Croatian, državni službenik.

To make a long story short:

Civil refers to the government , to the society. Civic can have the same meaning, but, on the other hand, it's not as used in English as the previous one.
Civic can, in addition, be related to a particular municipality, a town, a city.

Civic: government or municipality, as in (a) town.
Civil: government, not connected with (a) town; politeness, civility.

I've said that I'll be posting here grammar topics for which I'm certain people didn't mention in school.
So here is one that I didn't want to bring up earlier because I did't want to jinx our national team.
But they are out of the Euro now, so...

Collective nouns

A noun that consist of more than one member.
For example: group, committee, police...

Here is the fun part, noun such as these can be singular and plural.
If they are considered a whole, then they're singular: if they are seen as a sum of their constituents, then they are plural.

So you can say:
The committee is in session.
The committee are in session (you are emphasizing the fact that there are particular members within the committee)
OR Croatia (the national football team) were playing very well, but then came Portugal.
OR Croatia (the national football team) was playing very well, but then came Portugal.

Note: the police is always plural.

The police are in pursuit, the police are questioning someone....

Note 2: when the noun itself is in plural, then the verb is, of course, also in plural.
The committees are in session.
